The Shared Finance Service has recently undergone a restructure following the findings of a review which assessed our achievements to date and areas of opportunity for the future. The review identified that whilst we had delivered against our original objectives, we now needed to reposition the service to meet new and changing needs at both Councils. Since we went live in 2017 we have seen an increase in demand for strategic capacity and expertise in Commercial Finance. We are also seeing a shift towards tailored financial support for each Borough in key areas, meaning that some parts of our team need to have a greater focus on just one borough rather than two. Alongside this, we have received great feedback about the benefits we have realised in sharing other parts of the service, and a desire to build on this through greater alignment. As a result, we have changed our outline structure to meet these needs and reposition ourselves to focus on these areas.
The new structure is jointly led by two Assistant Directors - one allocated to each of our partner Boroughs. Beneath this the service is structured around 6 key areas, most of which provide services jointly to both boroughs. We have introduced borough specific teams to provide support on Financial Planning and Business Partnering, in recognition of the greater demand for tailored support in these areas.
