In April 2017 the London Borough of Sutton and the Royal Borough of Kingston launched an exciting new Shared Finance Service. We have recently changed our structure to reflect new demands on our team, and that has generated a number of new and exciting opportunities for creative ambitious people to join our team.

Financial Reporting and Control Manager

Grade 10 - £48,492 - £56,682 per annum (£58,779 unconsolidated maximum, achievable through performance-related progression)

Full-time (36 hours per week)

Permanent contract

Location - Sutton Civic Offices and Kingston Guildhall Offices

This role forms a part of the Leadership of the Financial Reporting & Control Team for both the London Borough of Sutton and Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames providing inspirational leadership and driving cultural change. As one of two Financial Reporting & Control Managers, you will  lead and manage the annual closing process, in year financial reporting to senior officers, and  leadership of the systems and control functions.


To succeed in this role you will be a CCAB qualified accountant, preferably CIPFA, with a detailed knowledge & experience of closing the financial accounts and preparing the financial statements for a large local authority and be comfortable in liaising with internal and external Auditors.  You will have experience of identifying and delivering service improvements or digital innovation, as well as a knowledge and understanding of financial control and governance processes that provide strong stewardship of public monies

to reduce costs and achieve better outcomes. You will lead by example to embed our values and act as part of the Senior Leadership tier of the finance service to develop a collaborative, joined up, finance team.
